GRAND RAPIDS, January 26, 2022 – President, CEO, Tim Schowalter of Pioneer Construction was recognized as the winner of the Grand Rapids Business Journal 2021 Newsmaker of the Year in the Real Estate/Construction category during a breakfast event at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.
The following Pioneer projects were highlighted by the Journal: The Daniel and Pamella DeVos Center for Interprofessional Health facility on Grand Valley State University’s (GVSU) Health Campus, Mission Design & Automation’s custom industrial automation and robotics integrator facility, the operations center at Gerald R. Ford International Airport, Inner City Christian Federation’s Tapestry Square Senior Living, and finally a Ludington mixed-use project, Lofts of Rowe.
The Journal’s reporters and editors selected winners from 48 finalists in 16 categories: Arts & Entertainment, Beverages, Economic Development, Education, Finance, Food, Health Care, Law, Manufacturing, Nonprofits/Philanthropy, Real Estate/Construction, Retail, Sports, Startups, Sustainability and Technology. A winner from the three finalists in each of the 16 categories was revealed at the event in addition to the overall Newsmaker of the Year.
