GVSU Pew Parking Ramp | Grand Rapids, MI
The Pew Campus Parking Ramp project was completed in an extraordinarily short time frame for such a large project. When GVSU asked Pioneer to complete the project in 8 months, even the facility planning staff doubted it could be done. The site, which was located between two active railroad spurs, presented significant logistical challenges, including poor soils that would require caissons for foundation support, and there was little staging area. Pioneer accepted the challenge and by means of aggressive planning, procurement strategies, seamless coordination with both railroad companies, and site management built the 328,000 SF, 5-story structure with 950 parking spaces, on time and within budget.
