GVSU Fieldhouse Addition | Allendale, MI

GVSU’s expansion of the Fieldhouse adds a sunlit training room for athletes, shifting them from the basement, and introducing more workstations and storage. The development boasts a state-of-the-art weight room with advanced technology, including a Bluetooth sound system, and offices for the conditioning staff. 

A highlight is the mat room for GVSU’s revived wrestling program. It has coaching offices, locker rooms for teams and referees, and a main gym with wrestling mats. This versatile space offers retractable bleachers, climbing ropes, pull-up bars, and circuit training equipment. It can be repurposed for basketball or volleyball with marked floors, retractable hoops, and volleyball net provisions. The mats store via a ceiling-hung system. Overhead doors ensure easy access to the loading dock and existing gym. Despite challenges like navigating a utility-dense campus area, the project finished under budget and a month early, without causing disruptions.
