GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Pioneer Construction, in a joint venture with Barton Malow, has been selected to lead the construction of the Acrisure Amphitheater, a state-of-the-art 12,000-seat outdoor concert and event venue situated by the riverfront in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Progressive AE, the project’s executive architect, is finalizing the schematic designs.
The construction team, project partners, and the official name of the venue were unveiled at a press conference held at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market on Friday, September 22.
Upon completion, Acrisure Amphitheater anticipates hosting over 54 ticketed performances every season. Beyond these performances, the venue will serve as a hub for community celebrations and events, attracting more than 300,000 visitors annually. Ownership and operations of the amphitheater will be under the stewardship of the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention Arena Authority.
The team plans to begin amphitheater construction in 2024, with events beginning in spring 2026.
This amphitheater forms an integral part of a landmark 31-acre urban riverfront development, set to be the nation’s largest. The project aligns with the vision of stimulating economic growth, fostering the creation of jobs, attracting businesses, and catalyzing further development in the region.
Construction is slated to commence in spring 2024, with the amphitheater gearing up to welcome its inaugural event in spring 2026. For further details and updates on the project, visit the Grand Action 2.0 website.
