Our heritage of quality craftsmanship is evident in the buildings we have completed. As a fourth generation family business, our tradition of construction excellence is protected with relentless commitment. Our Superintendents and field crew personnel are talented craftsmen who take great pride in the buildings we construct.
We maintain a basic philosophy that total costs are minimized by incorporating lean construction practices and ‘getting it right the first time’. We build quality into our projects with an emphasis on proactive supervision rather than fault correction. As such, we require a high degree of specialization of our field employees. The caliber of our craftsmen coupled with superior supervision and project-specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans ensure that each project is completed to the highest construction standards.
Extensive prequalification of sub-contractors confirm we work only with those who share our commitment to quality. We are passionate about what we do and take great pride in our work. Buildings constructed by Pioneer stand the test of time…members of the sub-contracting, architectural, and engineering communities and our clients will testify to the quality of our work.
Quality can be most simply defined as 'conformance with requirements'. In other words, it is not necessarily the difference between granite or plastic countertops but an evaluation of whether the material selected was installed correctly in conformance with requirements. However, quality goes beyond bricks and mortar; it must consider the services provided and the relationships amongst the owner, architect, and contractors.
Quality is free because it eliminates waste. It always costs more to do something a second time to get it right. Unfortunately for owners in the 'low bid' environment, the owner can pay for rework in the form of change orders. In contrast, in a high performance or high quality environment, the contractor is made responsible for performance and quality and, therefore, works in its own best interest to minimize risk.
High performing contractors step up to the plate to protect their client. We do this because if we do not deliver what we've promised, we will lose you as our client and reference. In contrast, a low bidder often promises only to be low on bid day.
It is important to understand that in the low bid environment, contractors are often forced to remove profit to obtain a project because there is too much low-performing competition. Therefore, the contractor may look for problems so they can charge for change orders. So the question is this: Do you want a contractor looking for change orders or do you want a contracting partner seeking solutions that minimize or eliminate change orders? Of course there is a charge for this service, but you wouldn't expect to get that level of service for free. Keep in mind...those who seek something for nothing often get nothing for something.
Don't be one of the people who think you cannot afford quality or doing it right- you would only be kidding yourself. The most costly approach is not doing it right!1
